MOKAU MARAE
Mandeno Design were approached by Mokau Marae elders to design the rebuild of the Mokau Marae. We worked closely with the Ngatiwai Trust Board after the successful completion of their Bland Bay Campground development & Ngatiwai Marae Additions.
We started the design in 2014 & worked closely with the Mokau Marae Rebuild Committee. The project scope included the replacement of the Wharenui and Wharepaku which were tragically destroyed in a fire. It also included documents required to complete the Wharekai which had only partially been constructed.
It was an honor to be invited to the opening and see how it once again provided a hub to bring together the community.

Mandeno Design were privileged to be invited to the long-awaited Mokau Marae opening last weekend. After the tragic 2013 fire which burnt down the existing Whare, Mandeno Design were approached by Marae elders to redesign their new Whare. We’re honored to have been apart of the team to bring this Marae back to life!
